Hi guys,

I've mainly done freediving for shellfish and would like to have a go at the lobsters. What I would like to ask is what are the signs to look for around reefs and large boulders where lobsters are?

What I've seen myself is fairly large excavations pushed away from under large boulders of broken shells and debris. Would this be a good sign that a lobster is held-up under the boulder or in a hidey hole?

I would be looking for the big clawed, European lobsters as opposed to the big spiney Californian chaps. Can anyone offer any expert advice on what the big dougnut excavations are and the likelyhood of them being lobsters doing some house keeping as opposed to a crab or otherwise?

cheers from a chilly and grey West of Scotland
