There are people that contend that travel to many areas is perfectly safe--then something like this article pops up with an entirely different picture.

What places have you determined you will not go? Where WILL you go without hesitation?

Could this be a contributing factor to people not taking up diving?
 
The General idea in Finland is that the Red sea tourist locations are perfectly safe. Direct flights to Red sea vacation sites and assorted travel companies package trips to these areas resumed already 18 months ago. As for divers, having fewer boats and other divers on site has been great. I've been there in '13, '14 and will be again soon.
I would think quite a bit more before venturing into Cairo or the ancient sites where lots of tourists go. Sure would love to see them someday though.
