Australia is known for its sizeable tiger shark population, is anyone offering dives where its possible to see them. Not interested in cage diving and without bait would be preferable?? Thanks.

Your best bet would be a liveaboard that goes to Raine island which is a huge turtle nesting site. The tigers turn up to dine on the Turtles. I think I am right in saying that none of the liveboards go there very oftern but I know that a couple do occasionally when they are on longer trips.

Thanks, i'll look into that. Is it possible to dive with them on the west cost, sharksbay?

they sometimes get them at Osprey reef, but it's not assured and they feed them... you're not in a cage though. google Mike ball shark feed or something like that and you'll hit a few videos.

if you're a shark nut, Mike Ball do shark research trips every so often. You still need to pay, but you're essentially on a research trip, so there's monitoring, tagging etc done... I'm not sure if they specifically chase tigers though....

I'm fairly sure I don't want to bag and tag a tiger, even if it's in the name of science!

[edit: just checked their site and none are slated for 2012... might be worth contacting them and finding out if they've moved to another boat or just don't do them anymore]

I saw one while diving on Heron Island, but I would say that I was very lucky to have that encounter and that it's not a usual thing.
