Back in Saudi Arabia--Jubail
Hi there. Here in Saudi Arabia, it's Thursday, so I thought to post my 2 Riyals worth now. I've been out of the loop for some time, but continue to watch what I eat. I haven't been able to go to the compound gym as often lately. I weighed 87 kg this morning. I'm now able to wear size 34 pants, and L sized shirts and t-shirts, instead of XL. That's the best part. Now people say I look much thinner, instead of last year when I'd get, "Oh, you're fat." Still a bit of handle present, want to get to 80 kg by year's end. It is possible to lose weight without going on an extreme diet plan. Look up the book "Sugar Busters." Great help, but not Atkins-like in severity.

P.S. The Frenchman that you might have read about being killed in Jeddah this past week was killed a few hundred yards from our compound, leaving the corner supermarket. Tides are low, tensions are high. Ciao for now.

Down 1.8 pounds (3 pounds and change from goal number 1...).

Jeddah, good to see that you're still kicking and doing well!

TaDAh! I think I am making progress, down 1.5lbs from last week.

I have started to watch those bad, bad carbs. You know the sweets, and potatoes. It has been tough but, I know I can do it. Even with all that is going on in my personal life.

I've had some type of stomach problem for most of this week, so I've lost toooo much weight too fast. Have been unable to eat very much at all, so I've been drinking gatorade, water and a little juice. So mine is 14 lb loss in 3 weeks, 6 from this week alone, but much is water loss, I'm sure. Not a fun way to lose. Trying to eat a little every few hours to reduce the nausea and hopefully get well. NOOOO, I'm not pregnant- just a schoolteacher who catches everything at the first of the year from my students. Sigh. Gotta love 'em.

Good job, 30 pounds is a major accomplishment. :) If one has to buy new clothes, it's much more preferable to have to buy DOWN in size instead of UP. Anybody check out the book "Sugar Busters?" Worth a try, especially for those out there drinking juice or water to reduce. Don't be intimidated by severe regimens. Learning to eat sensibly, but in decent quantity is preferable to a Weight Watchers-style diet. I'm not really "dieting," but rather am trying to alter my eating lifestyle. My dinner tonight was leftover chicken (minus skin) with cauliflower and green beans. No fat or carbs, and felt full (but not bloated). Portion control is as important as what foods we eat. Good luck all!

Okay, tummy is much better today, and it looks like I leveled out at a 13 lb loss for the 3 weeks. So, I'm encouraged, can fit in some shorts AND overalls today that I was unable to button before. I went to my Dr. today, and my blood pressure is great (I started BP meds for the 1st time in my life 3 wks ago today), so he was very happy with me. He said that when I get a bit more weight off, we'll try to go without the meds and see if my BP is fine without it. Hope that happens,

Foo

And, congratulations Dee on the weight loss. That is a major accomplishment, even 8 pounds is hard, much less 10x as much. You are quite a woman! I will try to think about what you've done when I start to waver in my resolve. Thank you for sharing!
