Since our article on Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary is now published, in the Dec. issue of Scuba Diving, I've put up a slide show on my website. We dove six wrecks in three days last June with NOAA divers so I have considerably more photos than the one published in the magazine.

I'm headed to Florida tomorrow so I'll try and post the story and additional information about diving Thunder Bay when I get back. Until then you can find the photos here. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks,

Andy

Awesome pics!!! It really makes me want to travel more to see some of these wrecks!

What housing do you recommend for below 200 ft for my 30D?

Thanks! While it's not pretty I use an Ikelite and have been quite happy with it. The TTL works very well. There are plenty of options out there if you want to spend more money. Ike is the only housing I have experience with but it's a good housing for the money and their service is great.

So how deep have you gone with the housing, and how deep would you go before feeling uncomfortable about the safety of your camera. The web site lists 200ft as max depth?

Call Ikelite and ask them. They are some of the best customer service in the dive industry.

BTW - I have no affiliation with Ike.

Nice. What time of year were you there? The vis looks great. How would you compare the Preserve and wrecks in it to the Sanilac Shores Preserve?

Thanks everyone. Dr. Bones, I've had the housing to 150fsw and would take it to 200 if I was qualified.

Ricky, we were there in mid-June of last year. It compares very favorably to Sanilac in my opinion. Now I love diving the Regina and Mary Alice B., but there are a great number of wrecks in the Thunder Bay area and a great variety with many well preserved. There is deep and shallow stuff and having the NOAA cultural center there makes for a great surface interval.

Great work, it is not often that I see photos that leave me speechless. You have a large collection of once in a life time photos. Very nice…
