Coastguard rush to rescue trio of divers after their vessel's engine fails
Three divers were rescued and taken to safety at the Kip Marina after their inflatable vessel suffered engine failure.
Two RNLI lifeboats were launched and sent to the spot off east of Bullwood, Dunoon at 8.45pm last night following a report of the incident.
They were joined by members of Dunoon and Greenock's coastguard rescue teams.
The divers were loaded onto the Helensburgh lifeboat and brought safely to the Kip Marina in Inverkip.
A passing yacht assisted in bringing the divers' rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) back to shore.
A Coastguard spokesperson said: "Three divers in the water were located and returned safely to shore when a dive RHIB was reported with engine failure east of Bullwood, Dunoon, at about 8.45pm on 16 July.
"HM Coastguard sent the RNLI's inshore lifeboats from Helensburgh and Largs as well as Dunoon and Greenock Coastguard Rescue Teams.
"The divers were brought to Kip Marina, Inverkip, by the Helensburgh lifeboat, with a passing yacht assisting the diving RHIB back."
