HANOI, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Three divers went missing after a huge explosion in Cua Lon River, Vietnam's Mekong Delta province of Ca Mau on Wednesday morning, local media reported.

The explosion was reported at around 9:30 a.m.

The three victims, all of whom lived in Nam Can district, Ca Mau province, have been identified as divers searching for scraps, Vietnam News Agency reported.

Witnesses found many parts believed to be human bodies on tree branches around the explosion.

Until Wednesday noon, local authorities said they had not been able to determine the explosion location and its cause because it occurred on the river. Rising water levels and rapid flows made the rescue efforts more difficult, VnExpress reported.

The case is being further investigated.
