I paid $175 at The Scuba center, plus the book, which I think was $36. I did my Nitrox the week after that for $75 at Odysee scuba.

this thread about prices on AOW classes got me thinking. I asked ocean state scuba for info on their program and they said it costs 400 bucks. is that reasonable? are there any better deals in the area?

OSS's classes are 1 on 1 private lessons which is why their classes are often pricier than shops that do group classes. They plan the class around your schedule and you get more personal attention, but it is expensive.

Is it worth extra money? I suppose that's a personal judgement call.

I did Nitrox last Saturday, the 1st. She didn't do PADI, she did it SSI.

It depends was given. You may pay only 200 to find the boat dive is 200 and costs extra etc. Look at AOW as a package and then compare whats given in the packages. I think OSS goes to the Idene or Sub for their deep boat dives and that has value if they still do those dives. You may pay 200 and dive in a quarry for your deep dive or end up in a lake for your night dive etc.

Oh man...maybe she lost my number. I wanted the SSI class. I'll have to call and see when the next one is.

Back on topic...for one on one private lessons, I guess $400 doesnt sound too bad! Probably get a much better value for your money that way.;)
