We are going diving in Morehead NC area. Anything to do there besides diving?
Any clubs, night life whatsoever?
Thanks

Lots of things. I always recommend a "Plan B" when diving in NC. Much would depend on your interests.

I can’t address the nightlife (but I am sure others will chime in soon), but can make suggestions about daytime things.

We have a new remodeled aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores, which just reopened middle of last month. It is great, they have replicas of the U352, Caribsea, and the Queen Anne’s Revenge as well as several other nice exhibits.

There are a few islands around you can take a ferry to for shell hunting or to see the wild ponies (Shackleford Banks).

A trip to the lighthouse is always fun.

Fort Macon is quite interesting

Lots of beaches.

This site might be able to give you some ideas

there are many different nightlife options, from young person-oriented dance clubs (full of marines) to the beach tavern for the locals, mostly on emerald isle across the causeway. linda's suggestions are good ones, too.

I had hoped more folks would weigh in on this thread. I'll also be in Morehead City for the first time in just three weeks from today. I can't hardly wait!

I'm planning on bringing along my mountain bike so if we get blown out on any given day I'll have something to do. Can anyone suggest an interesting spot to bike to/through/along? I figured I'd just throw on a day-pack and go.

Also - Any recomendations on good barbecue in the area? Mmmm

Try an evening Crabbing ..on the beach...just some string, a net, and chicken wing to catch them,,,boiling water, to cookem` , and you can think of the rest...LOL...see ya` under

I put this page together a couple of years ago for another board. Some of it is outdated (ie. the aquarium is now open), but most of it is still good.

barbecue - smithfields is a chain, but really really good.

Wonderful Information Rich!!!!!

You might also give Roland's Barbeque in Beaufort a shot. More of a carry out kind of place. For mountain biking try the Croatan National Forest. I haven't checked, but there's probably a trail guide available from the National Froest Service website, or you could stop by the ranger station near Havelock.

Unless I get blown out I normally head to Rap's or the Dockhouse in Beaufort for a drink. then grab some dinner, and goto bed. NC diving makes ya kind've tired. So for me its dive, drink, eat, sleep, and repeat.
