I use my scooter a lot in the ocean, I've had 2 halcyon pockets that attach to the BP harness come apart and I have one Light Monkey thigh pocket on my wetsuit starting to come apart also. Anyone else have this issue?

You can clearly see they are failing at the seams. I keep the light monkey pocket closed and the Halcyon pockets are the old style with the zipper top.

I am using the XS Scuba/Highland Tempest pockets. They hold up great for scootering and crawling in caves after lobsters. They have other similar pockets in different sizes.

One of the nice features is the sturdy velcro system that allows you to change pockets on 2" webbing without unthreading the harness.

How is this happening?

Is it because of the DPV thrust ?

That is my guess. The pockets are catching some water, I dont notice the drag, but it must be there. Pockets are designed to hold stuff, not to be "pressurized", so to speak.

I don't use pockets, or clip a big dismounted thigh pocket sideways under the plate

I think the appropriate term is "low quality"? I have had two Halcyon wings failing at the seams (bought two years apart, so it was not a specific "bad batch" and it happened before I started diving DPV). Sure, had to send them over international mail and after couple of months both got replaced, but bad quality, nonetheless. I had a similar problem with a new Mares XR wing, seams falling apart- but was replaced by LDS without needing to ship anything and wait for return trip from the US.

Halcyon harness pocket also disintegrated at the seams- this time I didn't even bother sending it, took it to a local shoemaker and he patched it, made it much better than the original (duh, it wasn't so hard...), two years and couple hundred dives since then- about half of them with DPV- and the pocket is strong as ever. Again, pocket disintegrated seams before I had the DPV. Used it only to help route the longhose underneath, and most of the time I have only a spare mask in this pocket, nothing bulky or heavy.

I have also a newer version of Halcyon's harness pocket and this one seems more robust and better designed too.

The pockets are closed while diving- either the zipper on old one or velcro in the newer, I don't feel they get extra pressure while DPV'ing or getting extra drag- not different from any thigh pockets anyway. I think low cordura quality and/or bad workmanship seam stitching is the problem.

I cant knock Halcyon, my failing pocket is probably 10 years old or older, and the light monkey pocket is at least 5 years old.

Odd your problem with the wings. I did have a Halcyon wing fail at the seams but it was one of the original wings, they replaced it immediately and I've had no problem since, and this wing is over 10 years old now.
