Some of the comments seem to be faith based testimonials regarding the value of thinsulate or other trendy insulators.

The only really useful comments I have seen here are that dry feet are important. I think it matters very little what you have for socks if your feet get damp from perspiration. So you need a sock that will wick moisture away from your feet or you need to wear and undersock (like a thin polypro sock) that will wick the moisture away from your feet. And the same thing applies to thinsulate booties.

I wear a pair of polar fleece socks with DUI 200g thinsulate booties over them. Never had cold feet. Been in water down to 37f
I have a pair of 400g thinsulate but they're a little snug in my drysuit.
 
I am very happy with the dui socks. The soft-wear did not work very well 4 me.
