No you don't know how to swim to learn to SCUBA dive.

Yes it's fine for you wife and child to just go off the information provided by your dive computer. No reason to purchase two more.

Since you got your OW card when you were 21, back in the mid '70s and have not done any diving since then, you are good to go on a week long live aboard trip. You've already had all the training you'll ever need.

You need to purchase a dive knife that can also be used as a short sword for class.

You must purchase all your dive gear before the first pool session.

Always make you have enough weight to sink, even when you BCD is fully inflated.
 
learn all you need to know from the internet, and go diving in caves.
 
Don't bother with gear service.. what can go wrong with it anyway?
 
Ditch the light when youre diving during the day, NO WAY you'll need it...

only wusses need buddies REAL divers go SOLO... and exposure is a bad word so exposure protection must be bad too!
 
You can use nitrox to increase bottom time OR increase safety but not both...
