Hi all Houston area divers

The Reef has reopened under new management and has a new name: Tiki Lake. The good part is that have reduced the scuba diving fee from $20 to ONLY 10 BUCKS. (They are trying to attract divers back to the site woohoo!)

I will be out there on sunday with friends, weather permitting. Hope to see other divers there too. :D

I drove by there a couple of weeks ago and of course the water was there, but it looked like they had some work on the building to do.

Also, I did dive there last year. It is a good place to get wet and get some pratice. If only they had air fills or such it would make it a lot better. of course there is a shop or two not far away. glad to hear they have went down on the price. it is closer to my house than twin lakes. :)

Someone remind me of where Tiki Lake (aka The Reef) is. I used to know, but it has been a long while since I knew. ;o)

I have dove there 3 times in the past couple of months, and all were nice dives. Nancy is the new owner and a very nice person. The vis has been really great around the hydrilla walls 20'. Lots of lifeform. I only seen 2 ducks and 1 goose, which is a good thing. Not sure where the other fowl went to. The training platforms are not in very good shape but she says she is taking steps to fix that. They open at 8am and it is $10 to dive. It is worth a dive.

That's good to hear. It really was a good place to dive last year.
Paramedic:
It is off Cullen and Beltway 8 south. Take Cullen towards town, it' on Schumaker or something like that to the right off of cullen.

A friend and I went on saturday evening. Admission was only $5 after 5pm. The new folks in charge are very nice.

Vis was ~ 20-25 ft. ~80 deg at surface, thermocline at 17 ft, ~65 deg at depth.

The platforms are under repair and are already in a lot better shape tham before.

Only downside wasl no air fills ..yet.

Great place. I'll be back.
