Greetings,

Posting this out of curiosity. I stayed at the plaza my first time here. It certainly serves the purpose, I just like trying new restaurants too much to be paying for a weeks worth of food.

I have a group of friends that are over there right now. When I've gone over to visit at night, do a night dive, or get tanks replenished (we get our tanks from there), it seems like an absolute GHOST TOWN. Much less people than I remember 2 years ago. Anyone else have the same feeling? I know there is a complex that is like a zombie land theme park right behind the plaza across the key. The plaza does not seem too far behind it....

Thoughts?

p.s. I'd love to see them just rent rooms/tanks, with a 'for purchase' restaurant/bar. I'd be way more apt to stay there for just the accomodations.

The Plaza was pretty full last week. All 3 boats (at least until one got knocked out) were full. The bar area was full as was the restaurant. The parking lot was not very full so I can only assume that many folks staying there did not have trucks. Toucan diving was really excellent this year! They have a lot of new people including Hagan of Cactus Blue fame. And they are making some interesting changes. This is the 3rd year of all inclusive. The 1st year was outstanding. Last year was ok. This year sucked. Breakfast/lunch is pretty much the same. But dinner no longer has live cooking. Everything is put out on steam trays, under seasoned and over sauced. Oh, quick comment on wifi. They are converting their phone system to digital and putting individual routers in each room. For those of us in a room not yet converted and on the outer fringe we were internet deprived. When I asked to change rooms they said it was fully booked with large groups. So I believe that answers the ghost town impression... Must have been a slow week when u were there.
