Actually, the S-Tek costs more...

How do I know? I own one!

Used it before I found out about DIR.

I've got a Zeagle Scout (with the ripcord release weight pockets). It's a great BC. Light weight and compact for packing. Only thing I had problems with was the odd bungee system. After about 30 dives someone finally spotted why I was having so much trouble on my safety stop. When my BC was completely deflated, my bubbles were getting trapped under the BC because the bungees were making little pockets. I took them off and had no more safety stop problems.

-BlueHole- once bubbled...
Does somebody know how much it wheights an Al Bp w. the 36 pioneer wing and abc more or less ?
And a Tp2 w wheight pokets ?
Thx

This is a guess but seems like an AL BP was 2-3lbs, a 36 wing should be 2-3lbs and maybe another 2-3 lbs for tank straps, pockets and harness so somewhere around 6 to 9 lbs. My Ranger weighs 8 and the Scout 4 (both are accurate measured dry weights)if that helps any.

Any recomendations for a BC weight integrated for Travel that is not Back Plate/Wing for the wife and I.

Man have you opened a can of worms!!
Needless to say everyone has their own brand preference and loyalty. But, that does not mean that particular brand will work for you.

I tried a scubapro and just could not get control at all. Switched to a seaquest pro qd and i can do what i want when i want at what speed i want....plus it has an integrated air source which i like a lot. I like that feature because i always dive with a pony bottle and it just cuts down one more regulator.

Try your best to go to a shop....even if you have to go to another town /.... and buy from someone who has a pool and will let you try it out first. That is the only way you can be sure....
good luck!!

I have a Zeagle escape that I use for tropical diving. It packs pretty small, it's light, and it has the Zeagle ripcord weight integration system. I think the bladder is 27#, which is more than enough for me. I'd also look at the TPII. It will allow you to change your configuration based on the kind of diving that you want to do by changing the wings, although it is not a BP system.

Zeagle also makes a small BC called the Scout. It has a very limited standard weight intergration but is serves my need fine (less than 8 lbs, any more than that and it tend to mess up my trim. You can always use a weight belt with it) I understand it can be purchased with the Ripcord system as an option. The standard wing has 35 lbs of lift on both the Scout and the Escape, I understand there is also a 27 lb one avalible. I like mine a lot and for about $220 online, its fairly inexpensive. Do a search on the board, the Scout was the topic of converstation a while back.

Both of the Zeagles are back inflate, as is the Transpac II. Neither of them have a metal plate as part of the harness. If you want a jacket style, you might want to indicate that.

Thanks! I did'nt mean to open a can of worms, but i did appreaciate your opions as always!

I have a Seaquest Explorer - the best tropical travel BC ever made. Too bad they're discontinued, and no, mine's not for sale.
But if you can't find one of those on a back rack or in a garage sale, my opinion is that the best available new is the Dive-Rite Transpac II with travel wings.
