Dont bother with Bocas Del Toro. I own a resort there, and if I tell you the diving there is mediocre you can take that to the bank. If diving is your main goal, skip Bocas. Bocas is much more suited for young surfers, and people that want a cheap tropical getaway. They have a dive shop in downtown Bocas, and the people there are really friendly. When we first arrived and inquired about diving, after informing them that we were from Florida and dove in the Keys regularly, they began to let us know that we would most likely be disappointed with the reefs there.. Bocas is a good place to do snorkeling, as its pretty shallow between the islands, and there are lots of pretty, small corals. For what this guy is looking for, I dont recommend Bocas at all. In fact I really dont recommend it for a dive getaway to anyone. It is so difficult to get in and out of that i would also be very concerned about getting injured there. Medical resources are limited, and of limited/questionable skill. My son got Dengue fever there, and they prescribed the equivalent of naprosyn which is one of the last things that you want to give someone who has Dengue.
