Also saw United had a bit of a price drop, flights that were $811 for April/May 2015 went down to $700 RT with taxes DEN to BON

Delta is having a sale. You have to fly out on Thursday or Friday, you have to fly out of a Delta hub (for example, I'm in Dallas so I have to fly from Dallas to Atlanta then to Bonaire), you have to stay over a Saturday night. They have some blackout dates in November. You'll find more in August to October. You also need to pick a date at least 2 weeks out, e.g. August 19 or later today.

If you go to Airline Tickets and Flights to Worldwide Destinations - Delta Air Lines, pick a Thursday or Friday to fly out, pick a day after Saturday to fly back then say your dates a flexible. You'll then get a table showing you which days are available and how much.

There might be some direct flights but I tried a few cities not a Delta hub and they always wanted me to go through a Delta hub.

Just got two round trip tickets for $567 each from Portland me to Bonaire for two weeks in September..

I was under the impression that only Atlanta (Delta) and Houston (United) had flights non-stop from the US to Bonaire and even that only on Saturdays? Are there any others?

Delta added a Friday non-stop as well. Or so I have been told.
I did not know that but checked following your post. Delta have added a Friday non-stop flights between Atlanta and Bonaire but looks like it is still in the 'experimental' stage for the Fall and Winter of 2014 only. I am going in May 2015. That May 2015 trip involves a liveaboard trip to Socorro on the Rocio del Mar and then a week of diving in Bonaire. Had I known about this Friday Delta flights between Atlanta & Bonaire, I might not have changed the itinerary as I have done.

In the original schedule, I was supposed to do Bonaire first, leaving it on Friday - first on Tiara Air to Aruba and connecting there to the Delta flight to Atlanta; then overnight in Atlanta and connect to the Saturday morning flight to Los Cabos, which I had to do to catch the Sunday morning boat departure. But knowing Tiara's shaky status, I was nervous about this and so when the opportunity arose to change my holiday dates to help a friend, I took it.

Under the rescheduled itinerary I fly from Atlanta to Los Cabos first, do the liveaboard and then return to Atlanta. The following (Tuesday) morning I take the Delta flight to Aruba and connect to the Insel Air flights via Curacao to Bonaire.
