I think I recall seeing somewhere that the whole thing was shot on a ginormous set that was partially flooded. I was on the recovery team too, though I don't recall the details. Didn't see any vampire bats of that size, just some eastern pipistrils with some super close-up camera work. My biggest fear was contracting rabies....ahem.

Remember, this is a SI-FI movie in a cave, not a cave diving movie.

All the divers are using Meg Rebreathers, and not standard OC cave diving equipment.

Remember, It's a MOVIE, not a documentary.

Yeeha, looks great!
gotta love the movies that ya can just turn off your brain to watch and get total value for money :D

OK, the divers used rebreathers, I wonder what the giant underwaterbats were using!!!

They are monsters, they dont need to breath

... but not cave-diver - I'm really looking forward to this. It's gonna be a hoot! They are using Petzl GriGris for rappelling, for God's sake...

Cave exploration is actually the most unglamorous activity in the universe. You spend most of the time drilling holes with your Hilti/Bosch, dragging yourself and mountains of gear through mud and insane constrictions, and waiting for the other guys to ascend the 150m, multi rebelay shaft you just went down just to find that it's a dead end. Not to forget the drawing and surveying...

But it's great fun, actually.

Speaking of diving films, I'll be interested to see the Shadow Divers movie. Apparently the guy who did Castaway is writing the screenplay. Could be interesting

Derek S:
They really need to put things like that in the manuals. I'm firing off a letter to PADI, I feel short-changed! :D

Hmmmm maybe they'll make that into a specialty course for AOW :vampire:
