Hello all,
I'll be heading into PNG very soon and of course would like to do some diving there. From what I've read about it, diving is fairly expensive in PNG so I'm only going to be able to dive in two or three spots and obviously I'd like to go to the better ones. Can anybody recommend some good locations and dive shops in PNG?

I've only done about 25 dives and am an Open Water diver. I like big stuff, but I am growing fonder of poking around for little things. I also like wrecks and places with history.

Thanks

Diving in PNg is no more expensive than any other world class diving operations.

Where in PNG will you being staying, this will enable better advice to be given...it is a large country...

If in Port Moresby either dive loloata (based on loloata Island) or the dive center (based out of the airways hotel) are very good operators.

Madang has great diving as does Walindi Plantation resort as does lissenung island in kavieng

I don't know...its pretty pricey. Two hundred dollars for two dives is insane if you ask me.... But, I've decided that I'm going to blow the budget because its that damn good. I spent a few days diving in Madang and was very very impressed. Heading out to New Ireland later in the week and then on to Rabaul.

I really enjoyed Walindi (New Ireland) where I had a couple of days before a liveaboard.

Alison

Hi Alison I am sure you meant New Britain rather than New Ireland for Walindi.

Have a look at the video of the Orcas they see there, approx once every year (no set month) you just have to be there at the time.

And yes a great place with truly awesome diving.
