I'll be traveling to Bangkok from the USA from 1/27/2018 to 2/17/2018, and am looking for some scuba travel tips. I expect that I'll be in Bangkok for 2-3 days after arrival to recover from the jet lag and time zone change, which will give me approximately 16 days to do a lot of diving. I expect I'll be heading south to dive the Andaman sea, and possibly the Gulf of Thailand.

So if anyone has any recommendations, let me know. If I could have a wish list, it would be to travel to 4-5 different places with local flavor that aren't overly touristed or 'resort-ed', and do day trips to some great dive sites. For comparison, West End in Roatan is my usual "go to" spot in the Caribbean. Also not opposed to doing a short live-aboard, as Similan and Surin sound spectacular.

Thanks for any help/advice. Cheers.

We were in Thailand 4 years ago for 32 days. Really liked it. Spent the first 3 days in Bangkok doing some site seeing. The took tooks were great. Paid a guy to drive us around for 4 hours. Think if was 25.00. Great deal. Then bus/ferry ride to Koa Tao. Spent 22 days there diving. Found Goodtime Adventures. Stayed at their place above the dive shop. Did all my diving with them. They have speed boats. They also do other things like Rock Climbing etc. Check them out if you decide to visit Koa Tao. Goodtime Thailand | Koh Tao & Koh Phangan hostels & adventures Then back to the mainland and to Chang Mai to go see the Elephants. www.elephantnaturepark.org It turned out to be the hi-light of our trip. Food was always great. Enjoy Thailand!!
