TG-6 with YS-01?

I bought a new TG-6 this summer and had a older YS-01 strobe from an camera I had a while ago. Now I see posts that say that the YS-01 won't work TTL with the TG series without a firmware update. Has anyone had this firmware update done? Who can do it?

I also see that there was a way to get TTL to work with the TG-4 by setting the accessory setting to remote flash->slave. But I don't see this in the menus of the TG-6, is this something still available but in some other menus that I'm not finding or am I stuck with manual unless I either get the firmware update, or a different strobe?

As a follow up, I replaced both of my two older fiber optic cables and it now seems to be working much better. Neither one of my older cables worked well especially at longer distances than two feet, overexposing most of the time. The new cable seems to work much better at any distance that is within range for the YS-01.
