terrible dilemma - housing vs strobes

Go with strobes... At least you can use them for when you have out-grown your compact and want to move on to DSLR....

strobes. the answer will always be strobes.
you can shoot sTTL or Auto on the Inons, but I personally shoot sTTL with a fiber optic cable.
I have the canon housing for my G11, and it's never leaked, even down to 175, it just wont "work" past 130 because the pressure causes the buttons to sink in. I can do a LOT of photography shallower than 100ft with two Inon strobes
