Hi all,

I was wondering if I could get your input on what to include in 3 kits I want to put together.

1.) What is in your save a dive kit (and why)?
2.) What is in your first aid kit (and why)?
3.) What is the list of stuff you take when diving off of a private boat (ie, friends or dads)?

Thanks in advance for the great input.

nail clippers (for cutting the zipties), o-rings, wrench, hoses (backup), SMB, several double brass clip, aquaseals, etc... I have too many in my save a dive kit. Surely others will chime in to list more.

2.) What is in your first aid kit (and why)? bandaids, triple antibodies, advils (for headache, pain, etc), sufurd (sp?)...

3.) What is the list of stuff you take when diving off of a private boat (ie, friends or dads)? I will bring everything in duffel bag that I can dive with along with my save a dive kit.

O-rings. O-rings of the right size for yoke-style valves. I do not own any tanks. It’s still been easier for me to rent tanks. About 1 out of every 3 tanks seems to have a thrashed o-ring that I end up replacing.
An o-ring removal tool…obviously.
A dozen ladder ties in sizes from 4" to 1’.
These can be used to clip a knife to a BC, re-attach a mouthpiece, replace a broken clip, make an easy pull for a zipper that has lost one.
A spare mouthpiece in case one gets torn or lost.
A spare mask strap and a spare fin strap, for obvious reasons.
A multi-purpose Trident brand dive tool and a Leatherman multi-purpose tool.
5’ of 2" wide Duct Tape wrapped around a piece of an old pen barrel.

What is in your first aid kit (and why)?
6 sting swabs
6 small self adhesive bandages
6 medium self adhesive bandages
6 large self adhesive bandages
24 butterfly bandages
6 small pkgs anti-bacterial ointment
6 2"x2" gauze pads
6 4"x4" gauze pads
2 rolls 2" gauze
1 2" roll stretch bandage
1 ¾" roll adhesive first aid tape
1 muslin sling
1 mylar blanket
1 pair forceps
1 pair scissors
1 pair medium straight hemostats
3 pair nitril gloves
1 1-way valve respirator mask with O2 supply nipple
1 small pad write-in-the-rain paper and mini-Sharpie pen and pencil
If you have to ask why for any of the items, you shouldn’t bother carrying a first aid kit. Leave it to others.

hmm a list of stuff for diving off a private boat..
1. a dry bag to hold it all together
2. sunglasses
3. sunscreen
3. telephone
4. wet weather gear
5. towell-extra change of clothes
6. gps-charts
7. wallet with lots of $, cause at the end of the day its time to pay up

There's lots of information on building kits in the Equipment/Accessories forum. Check the sticky for links to lots of threads.

Save a dive kit I have:

screwdrivers, 1/2", 9/16" and 5/8" wrench, pliers and allen wrenchs(or a scuba tool) Pull ties in all sizes, o'rings and o'ring puller(tool). silicon grease, extra mouth piece, mask straps, knife straps, tylendol, a few dollars in change, de-fog, batteries for flashlights. After that it is personal, just put in what you need. Also, I dive lakes. There may be other stuff for oceans that I do not consider.

For diving off a private boat, I carry: my own charts, GPS, handheld VHF radio, dive flag, 15 foot lines with snap clips (to tether gear in the water), wax portion of toilet ring (in a plastic bag...to repair leaks in the boat), chem-lights.

wax portion of toilet ring

I keep meaning to get one of those.

Save A Dive: O-Rings, Zip ties, Straps, a LP hose, wire cutters, couple of wrenches, extra mask...

First Aid Kit: Whatever is in the dive boat

Private boat: Haven't dived off of one

And most importantly...Always, always...Sudoku puzzles...My rides out are LONG...
