Hi there,

Gathering information about the most "common" accidents in 'non-overhead technical diving' during the last 5-10 years. if anyone know any reputable source out there please contact me. also if someone knows about a Technical Rescue Diver Course offered please send me an email or post your reply here.

Kind regards

what are you thinking of as qualifying as 'non-overhead technical'? do you mean non-hard overhead like no caves? or no overhead at all, neither hard nor deco?

not trying to bust you, but for most folks, overhead whether real or theoretical is a defining factor making a dive 'technical', so i'm not sure what you're asking.

My guess is that he is talking about staged decompression dives without wreck penetration or cave diving. I would love to see the results of such a compilation, and wish the OP well with his project.

If it is still consistent with the last decade or two, the number one killer will still be switching to the wrong gas at depth. Rebreathers have in some respects just introduced new and exciting ways to accomplish that same old problem.

Thanks guys. i am talking about staged decompression dives accidents, not caves, wreck or ice.
Technical Rescue Diver Part 1 is going to be related to staged decompression diving and Technical Rescue Diver Part 2 is going to be related to hard overhead like wreck, ice and caves.
Got enough data for Part 2, NSS provided me with plenty. I appreciate any assistance that you guys can provide. i keep you updated. the structure is set and its going the course outline is going to be published in a few months starting with DSAT.

Have a great day,
Cheers Jonas

While I can appreciate the positive attitude, don't call it "rescue diver". If the problem can't be solved by the divers already in the water its a recovery.

Absolutely, rescue dives have a different set of requirements and priorities than recovery dives and it annoys me when people mix one with the other. As stated above, if divers are not already on site and in the water, it is going to be too late for a rescue.

I think it would be safe to say that the Technical Rescue Diver course could be an excellent contribution to a technical divers training. For those looking to progress to a technical instructor training program or start to lead other technical divers a more rescue/emergency devoted training program would be a considerable asset.

Those devoted to ongoing education as well as refining their skills and leadership ability could gain from such a program. We are training and diving every day, always looking to expand our knowledge and skills. I am really looking forward to the launch of this program.

I'm curious, but what specifically would you hope to teach or learn in a class like this?
