Wow--this is ridiculously stupid.
Flutter kicking in a "technical training class", kneeling on a platform to do valve shutdowns? What the crap?!

This was a failure on everyone's part. It really looks like no one donated--not even the camera guy.

Really? Must have missed it.
Why in the world were they practicing this in 120ft of water?

Are you sure it's not a spoof?

Flutter kicking and modified flutter kicking are required in some classes, but it doesn't look like the guy was kicking in the context of performing a skill. The guy was doing valve drills anyway, why didn't he just shut down the post and switch regs? Kneeling on the bottom does suck, and everyone had pretty funky trim.

What's the deal with how the videographer was breathing? Practically skip breathing...

I had the similar incident on my tech training. My instructor was pretty much DIR oriented guy. We went through all drill sets during the class. The primary reg has been free flowed (39 degree), but the instructor didn't pass over his long hosed reg. I switched to 2nd reg. He asked me to close a valve by myself.

I wondered why he didn't donate his reg first. He told me that

1. You weren't panic at all.
2. You have already shut down an isolator by yourself.
3. You switched your reg already
4. You knew you still had enough air including a deco bottle.
5. You only needed to shut down the valve before closing an isolator.

Of course, he was watching me within 3 ft.

In fact, it was a real experience to learn how to handle the situation as a newbie.

To take and donate a reg is the easiest way to get out of the situation though. There will be nothing (except S-drill) to learn from the real experience if I just took the donated long hose.

Key point was "no panic." ;)

Just my 2 bar...

The quality of the video is very poor,,,,good for them it was,,,most interesting clip.
