Interested in Tech Diving? Want to see rebreathers and scooters up close? Want to try out a set of doubles? Then come to Lynnhaven Dive Center (Virginia Beach) on Saturday February 3rd, 2007 between 9am-5pm for a Tech Diver open house. LDC and VBTech (our local tech oriented dive club) will have several stations set up to answer ANY questions you may have about tech diving.

Remember tech diving isn't all about going deep. Want to do 45-60 minutes of bottom time on the Morgan (@110 fsw)? Come on by and talk to us.

If you would like to learn more about: Drysuits, Dive Propulsion Vehicles, Rebreathers – DEMO the Dive Rite O2ptima in the pool, Decompression Diving, Cave Diving, etc. drop by and talk to us that day. Most of the people who will be there at the tables are NOT employees of the shop. We’re just tech divers that want to get more people interested in dong the kind of dives we do.

Depending on turnout and safety issues you may be able to demo more than the O2ptima rebreather. We are working on allowing people to demo doubles, drysuits, and possibly some of the scooters.

The stations include:

1.) Exposure protection. You can’t tech dive up here (or most places) without a drysuit to keep you warm for those long deco stops. See what a Bare Nex-Gen looks like with added pockets and cuff rings (ugly…but it keeps me warm). I will be manning this booth and I believe there will be an entire size run of Dive Rite suits to try on.

2.) Tech diver basic personal gear. Learn about back plates/wing setups, doubles, canister lights, etc.

3.) Tech diver advanced gear: Gear lines, cave equipment (primary, jump, gap reels, arrows), wreck gear, artifacts.

4.) Decompression and gas mixes. See decompression software, learn more about different gas mixes, stage bottles, bottom timers and computers.

5.) Diver Propulsion Vehicles. SCOOTERS. We will have two SS scooters, an X-scooter, a Mako, and an Apollo on hand.

6.) REBREATHERS. A few different models will be on hand. Including the new Dive Rite O2ptima.

7.) Cool wreck diving and cave diving videos. If these don’t get you interested in going deep…nothing will.

8.) Transition to tech Diving. Learn about the new SSI Tech Extended Range (TXR) training program and learn more about VBTech. Several tech instructors will be on hand to discuss your training options if you choose to take the next step.

For more info visit LDCSCUBA.com or VBTech.org. Or just post your questions here or via PM.

Hope to see you there :scubadive

Sounds cool... I'll be there!

I will be there also. The group is very nice. I am transitioning into Tech now & dive with them often, even tho all Rec limits at this time.
I am looking at getting a new drysuit for myself & 1 for my wife also so this will be a good time to check different types & brands.

Hey Rad!

What time are you going? Maybe we could meet up?

See ya...

Hey Drew sounds good to me. We should be up there around noon or shortly after. Im sure the wife will insist on me taking her to lunch first, probably at the Atlas diner pretty much right across the street.

Sounds COOL! I'll look for you...

I forgot to mention...famous Miss Lindsey dogs, chips, soda, beer, etc. provided by Lynnhaven Dive Center.

Hi All:

This was a great demo day these guys put on, had lots of cool stuff. Duckster3D (from this board) was there and had some excellent video. They also had a number of scooters to check out and I was really impressed with the knowledge of the guys showing the scooters (no sales, just comparisons).

I think I also met some other SB and DS members, but I don't know their user names (SORRY) to thank them.

Rad, if ya read this, SORRY, I didn't make it out until 2 PM and had to leave by 3 PM, so I think I missed you!

Anyway, thanks to all of you for a GREAT show...

Hi Drewski, I was there but didnt stay very long, I was mainly looking for drysuits & thought the Dive-Rite guy was going to have a bigger selection for my wife to look at.
So we went over to DQ & ordered a couple of DUI's. She got a TLSSE & I got a CF200,
Joe did us right, but was still a big chunk of change by the time we finished putting all the options I wanted. I wanted to do it right the 1st time.

Hey Rad:

Congrats! DUI is a great choice with lots of flexibility. My choice was Viking based on my experience and I've been working on "getting used to the suit" for about 3 pool sessions now. I'm doing Rawlings this weekend and will tell you how it was!

See ya!
