Please forgive me if this is the wrong area for this question. I am interested in taking some tech classes/diving and a local LDS is offering Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures via TDI. I inquired about these classes and was told they are $300.00 each or $550.00 combined. Not complaining about the cost but I was told these were classroom only no dives. Now, I guess I could buy the Advanced Nitrox being classroom only ( although it seems there should be dives with it) but how the heck do you teach Decompression Precedures without any dives? Any other TDI people out there able to tell me if this is standard?

I would look elsewhere for classes.

Advanced Nitrox is a bit misnamed. Its really more of an basic tec diver 101 course. This class really NEEDS dives. With IANTD, gas switches, lift bags, doubles/H valves, valve drills, S drills, deco bottles and dive planning with limited mandatory deco are all covered. Its hard to practice lift bags in a classroom.

Yea are you seroius that he doesnt do dives with those, or do you just mean that the dives arent priced into the course?

I mean when I asked how many dives were involved I was told this is all classroom. This really didn't sound right to me and that's why im asking here.

Your best course of action would be to contact the instructor and talk directly with him/her. When I went through the classes (adv nitrox/deco procedures) there was a min of 6 dives required and many instructors require more(mine did).

I'm currently taking the TDI Adv. nitrox and Deco Procedures class. 4 Dives are required at the minimum per class.

Thanks for your input. I think I now see that I will be taking this from someone else. Why can't the close by classes ever work out :( . BTW Meister do you mind sharing with me what you are paying?

4 dives for each class or 6 combined as it usually is done. Those are of course minimums. I can't imagine anyone telling you there are no dives required. If that really is the case, and I'd like you to confirm that, I want a PM about it.

Yea...I think I did 100.

500 for both, books/dive fees/gas not included. My instructor is pretty set on us doing a bunch of dives, Ive done 3 already and he's telling us we need a bunch more practice before we are ready to do checkouts.
