Just because you aren't showing doesn't mean students won't know (or find out later) you knew you were pregnant while on SCUBA. I applaud your decision.

Pregnant women shouldn't dive, but its more about breathing compressed gas at depth than immersion. While research has been mostly animal experiments, there doesn't seem to be a relationship between what a mother experiences, and fetal exposure and outcome, similar to the way we treat drugs and pregnancy. There seems to be a relationship between depth time and likelihood of fetal bubbles.

If one chose to risk diving, at best case, you'll have a normal baby. Alas, too the pregnancy could be lost. But worse, I believe, the child will survive with defects or malformations that cannot be ascertained was caused by diving. Everyday, while the child lives, one will be reminded of that issue and wonder what if?

Of course, a malformation could confer advantage rather than disadvantage, but in most cases, maformations cause dis-ability rather than cap-ability.

Maybe you can goto the pool and help with surface skills and other things on the surface. There's always a million things to do during a pool session and not everyone needs to be underwater.

That IMO would be showing the students a good example in that you aren't diving because you are pregnant. But, you are still involved in something you enjoy.
