I'm a Fish!
Take you Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures Class November 26th-30th, then dive the B29 Bomber on December 1st. I've worked out some great deals on boat dives in Lake Mead with the folks from Sin City scuba. You get to dive all week and see great mead dive spots, as well as get your staged deco cert. Then enjoy the awesome site of a B29 superfortress still in beautiful condition.

Here are just a few pictures taken on the bomber.

I read a while ago that the site is 140 feet deep, talking with the locals saying its probably closer to 120' now... What kind of great deals do you have going with SCS? I wanted to go dive it a couple of weeks ago but due to the expense of their permit... I had to back off. How about some details, where is the training that you're offering. Perhaps you should also mention the legal limits of diving the B29 as well.

Hi David, the bomber is 143' to the sand/mud which is actually very easily stirred up, so buoyancy control is a must on this dive. My class that I have posted is going to be taught in the lake on several differents sites, such as the ag piles, and a few others. All the class dives will be on Sin City Scuba's boat, and after the students are certified the following day they will dive the bomber.
As far as who is allowed to dive the bomber, the park service is only allowing you to dive it within your training. So if you are not a certified decompression diver you are not allowed to go into deco, or pass 130. I believe SCS will take you but it seems like alot of money to spend if you only get a few minutes to look at it. Also you don't descend straight to the bomber. They have set the mooring lines up so no boats are anchored above. This prevents damage from things being dropped from a boat. My point in saying that though is that in a nodeco situation you will only get to peak at the tail just in time to head back to the up line.
If you want a deal you will need to talk with SCS about that.

Man, I've read about this, and would love to do that dive some day, if it's still there and open to divers! Congrats on the class. I'll be there one of these days!

Hey Robert, don't know how many students you have for Mead. I have a voucher to dive the B-29 through TDL, and I don't think I'm going to be able to make it b/4 the end of the year when it expires. So if you know of someone and the price is right I'd be all ears. Understand you know Robin Bashor...small world. sorry off topic

I've wanted to dive this plane for a long time. I was very happy to see they finally opened it up to divers. But then I was extremely disappointed in the price being charged. I don't care who you are, $450 for a couple dives in a lake is outrageous! Doing the class with Shane is probably the best way to see it as the cost is spread among other things. For us poor chumps that already have the training, its big bucks or no dive. I'll have to wait some more, maybe the price will become reasonable someday.
