Hi

I want to purchase four AL80 tanks this summer in Florida where I'll be diving for a couple of weeks. I was wondering if there any problems with bringing them back and/or getting them filled in Canada. Any bad experiences out there ?

Thank you

A friend of mine bought two tanks from US and the only problem was that we had to empty them out as per regulations. Once we got here, he got the visual for both and that was it... best is to ask any dove shop, they may know.

My dive shop said D.O.T. or T.C. stamps were acceptable.

Some tanks carry both and where I'll be purchasing them, that is the case.

I am waiting for an answer from Transport Canada.

Most new tanks come with Dept of Tansportation & Transport Canada these days.
Actually.. Transport Canada and Department of Transportation are the same agencies.. they changed names a few years ago from DOT to TC..
Same people.. different name..

DOT is US / TC is Canada

IF you are in montreal most dive shops wont accept tanks without TC stamps (it is the law in Canada) I can garantee for a fact that Nepteau,CPAS, Le Monde du Silence and Waddel dont, since I got stuck with a pair of 120's that wern't TC but were DOT

If a dive shop did say ok would like to know story PM me.

Not the case at all. You are thinking of CTC changing to TC. DOT is the US version of TC.

Our TC used to be called DOT too.. They changed it to avoid confusion, I think...It was back in the late 80s or 90s...
I know that for sure.. somewhere I even have some of their old letterhead..
