Tank Tutorial?

Is there any source that explains different types of tanks. I am looking at buying tanks (both in new and used markets) and I can't figure out which tanks will work with my equipment. Basically I am looking for a run down on the difference between valve types and if I can use LP and HP.

I have an Oceanic Alpha 7 PX2 Piston Regulator, I am looking for what is compatible.
