Tank rentals that can be taken off premises

Heading to GC in April. Where can we rent tanks that we can take off premises?
Also, has anyone dove at Cemetary Beach or off the beach at Discovery Point? Thanks. TK

Alex, another question. Solo diving from everything I read is not accepted in GC, at least as it pertains to diving with a dive op. Is that still the case? Thanks.

Don't believe everything you read. It depends on the dive op and (sometimes) on their impression of your experience level.

I do not believe they have a website.

Yes - you can dive off Cemetery Beach. Either Cemetery Reef & its reefballs & shallow coral heads or The Kittiwake just before the main wall (with your Kittiwake medallion of course).

How far a swim is it from the beach to the Kittiwake, do you recommed all or part of it on the surface, how is boat traffic, do you need a float/flag and where do you pick up a Kittiwake medallion. Is there a time of day you recommed to shore dive the kittiwake? Any current or tide issues to be aware of? Any suggestions for access, parking and setting up to dive Cemetery Reef? We will be at Discovery Point, which I believe is very nearby. Thanks.

IMO the Kittiwake is a pretty good kick out from the beach. Absolutely, positively have a flag. There is quite a bit of boat traffic in the area and saving the $45 difference between a rented tank and the $55 sunset house charges isn't worth being turned into chum.

20-30 mins to the Kittiwake. 5-10 mins to Cemetery Reef. We swim all the way on the surface. There is some boat traffic yes but not a lot so you should be swimming out on your backs with a flag not snorkelling & ready to descend immediately in an emergency - that means as a last resort descending without mask on & without reg in mouth - sort them out once you have descended below any passing traffic. It's a big wreck but if you want it to yourself dive it when there aren't any boats on it e.g. early a.m. or late afternoon. No tides. Little if any current. Opposite the cemetery there's an area you can park & kit up & walk down the "Beach Access" marked path to the beach.
