Tanik condos Akumal

I'm planning a trip to MXX next April and am considering staying in or around Akumal. One optionwe are considering is Tanik condos. Anyone have any first hand experience with those condos?

We plan to have a car. Are they conveniently located to stores and restaurants? How is the snorkeling within walking distance? Might try to dive Cozumel one day. Would that be an easy drive to either the ferry or PDC shops that run trips to Coz?

I haven’t stayed at Tanik, but I stayed here one time: Akumal Condo | Texas Beach House Rentals The owners were incredibly awesome to deal with and the place was beautiful, I’d highly recommend checking them out. Tell them Nick send you (I don’t get anything for telling them )

Akumal is pretty tiny, so everything is fairly conveniently located to stores and restaurants there. I consider all of Akumal walking distance, so the snorkeling in both the bay and the lagoon is entertaining. The drive to the ferry in PDC is easy, the only thing would be finding a place to leave the car for the day. There used to be a paid parking lot at the south end of the mall near the ferry, but they were doing some major construction there last I visited, so no idea what the state of parking is there now. IIRC, a taxi from Akumal to PDC was around 350-400 pesos each way. I think there’s only one shop that actually has a boat that crosses from PDC to Coz for diving, all the others send divers over on the ferry to board a boat there.
