"Sorry on this one. No longer rumor. Rescuers from an AUC event were in the water to recover the diver. Those rescuers were not connected to Northwest, but were connected to another dive shop."

"See again different rumors but from what i heard apparently all rescuers involved with the incident where the pros leading the dive from the store till the victim hit the edge of the lake. In fact the rumor going around was the 7 divers on shore that where up their fun diving, thought it was a rescue class until northwest scuba shore support started making people move cars to make room for EMS"

Thats the funny thing about rumors i heard this from an AUC member that was up there too. see even they cant get there story straight

@floats am sorry I'm being a dick i just don't want to search through it all again, i was doing research into the accident this am and had my report open, Im sorry i don't remember the page but ill look tonight. you also have to remember that dan has other info available other then just that report too

"I was trained (in ACUC basic open-water, I might add) that the rescuer makes the victim slightly positively buoyant and him/herself slightly negatively buoyant and controls the ascent of both divers. That way, if the victim slips from your grasp, they are going up and you are going down. The situation, as described in this thread, would never have occurred with a trained rescue diver. Even with zero air pressure in the victim's tank, the BCD could have been inflated orally and, on the way up, vented occasionally. The only caveat is that the BCD bladder may have ruptured, but this seems to not have been the case. If the BCD bladder had ruptured there should have been lots of buoyancy in the suit if only the weights were disengaged (which would have made for a much more rapid ascent)."

No one on this board actually knows what happened!

FOr all we know the victim was panicked wouldn't let the rescuer get close enough to add air dropped down sunk 20-50 feet landed in silt made the vis 0 and rescuer number 1 couldn't find him??? I don't know just saying, we don't even know what happened so how can we decide what was done wrong or what we would have done differently?

I don't know dude. The AUC is a weird bunch anyway, maybe they felt bad about thinking it was a rescue class and had to build up their involvement? and he wasn't the 200 foot pony bottle guy, he was "they we where told it was a rescue class" guy.

plus the news is now saying it was an OW class lol so i guess until padi tells us something *which will be never* we wont know :(

OK dude. You have claimed 1000-2499 dives and I call bull****. What you have is attitude, not experience. I have just over 100 dives. I'd love to meet up with you for a dive or two. Let's practice any skills you want. I am so going to LMAO.

Lol my attitude comes with experience Im a IDC staff instructor and have been at the professional level for 8 yrs. Just cause you don't like my opinion or the way I present them doesn't make me any less experienced. Im confident in my skills both as a diver and an instructor and my ability to give the students a safe and fun experience. I'll go diving with any one any where and Im not too good to pull out my DM card and help new instructors with their classes. If you need a hand and i like you ill come help and not expect to get paid, Ill do it for the love of the sport and the safety of the students. I love diving and if there was a way i could make a living doing it here i would.
