I will be in Tampa for a few days on business at the end of Nov and am wondering if there is any decent diving there and if there are any suggestions for operators?

Thanks,

Bill
lots of decent diving! infact, I think it is pretty good diving! take your choice from fresh or salt, beach or boat. It sounds like you haven't been to Tampa before, so as an outsider, (I live on the other coast) I have a few suggestions:
If you have time I suggest you make a point of diving Crystal River with the manatees. Devil's Den is a spring in a cavern and is very unique. both of these dives are fresh H2O.
Spanish Rocks and Venice Beach (both south of Tampa on I 95) are locations I would also suggest (both salt in the Gulf).
If you can schedule an extra day I would strongly recommend you check out some of the other springs in the area or take a trip to Pompano Beach and dive the South East Coast. Lots of reefs and as of to day the water is 83 degrees F at 56 feet deep.
Good Luck, I wish I was going to have time to dive with you...:-(

I agree with Allen. There's lot o fun to be had here in the Bay area, but, if I were traveling from AZ to FL I think I'd make the drive over to the East Coast. West Palm Beach area (Boyton, et al).

i live in tampa..go diving allllllll the time....captain ty runs a good dive boat if u can get with him..I use adventuresunderthesea because its 2 minutes from my house..The diving in clearwater is great since there is a clearwater reef. I love the diving here, you can see sharks, grouper, turtles, barracuda and well, i could go on forever..make sure u at least you bring a skin because i have seen jellies on every dive...
