The family is going to be in/around Tampa/St Pete in early July, just after the 4th. The resort we are staying at says there is scuba available nearby. The place is All Seasons Vacation Resort @ Madeira Beach Florida.

My question is, what can I expect? We own no gear and were certified last year in Maui. So we are total newbs with only 6-7 dives on us. What's the local skinny without being a local? More importantly, who should I avoid?

Thanks and maybe I'll see some of you around!

PS, we'll be back to Florida in Orlando around Christmas. Anything I should think about there? I know there are some springs and such but not sure what my options are for that week.

Well you should get a hold of Capt. Ty. He is around here on the board. From where you are staying he will be pretty close. I have never gone out with him but he has a very good reputation. As far as gear. There are shops over there that will rent to you. I don't live on that side of the bay so I don't know what shops are there but the resort should be able to tell you. Do yourself a favor and book now. It will be busy around that time.

I'd say this is it in a nutshell :)
