Hi!

I'm one month away from my trip to French Polynesia. We're doing Bora Bora, Rangiroa and Moorea for two weeks. We have a 44 pound limit on the island hops, with an 11 pound additional allowance with presentation of a c-card.

Any packing tips for me? I've already come to the conclusion I will be packing my Quattro fins instead of my beloved Jets, and I'm checking the dive shop for lighter booties than my DUI rockboots I normally wear with my wetsuit. And I'm sure I'll be sozzeling out some clothing during the two weeks as well.

How have the rest of you done it in the past? Any and all tips are appreciated!

Thanks!

just saw this thread.....

ive just packed for our trip - and i got my bag down to 15kgs/33lbs :multi:

ss bpw, reg, fins, booties, mask, snorkel, ankle weights (yes, ankle weights) aeroskin suit, 3 tshirts, 2 sarongs, 1 pair of cossies, 3 knickers and a powerboard for hubbys camera gear and THATS IT!!!

of course - hubby has gone crazy with the camera gear so ive bought another seat on the plane to get the extra luggage allowance as its cheaper than paying by the kg/lb

this trip has shown me how heavy our luggage so a rethink on bags in the future i think

When I was in the FP...I rarely changed out of my bathing suit. You don't need clothes, I bought several really nice sarongs while I was there and just wore those everyday. And flip flops!!!

Take one decent outfit for Bora Bora as you will want to go to Bloody Mary's...But even then don't worry about the shoes. The floor is sand. Take the bare minimum gear that you will need. You don't need a heavy wetsuit (think skin) or heavy booties. Not much stinging action. Most days I only wore a tshirt to dive in. But you will want the skin if you are doing Rangiroa.

You will have an awesome time!

Listen to what everyone has posted....they weigh everything. I have switched from my Akona big roller bag to an old Aqua Lung bag. Saved 6 lbs. Consider a duffel and take only what you need.

Wear lots of stuff and stuff your pockets. I'm not kidding! It is the quickest easiest way to beat this. Of course ou may look a bit funny as you board the plane with fins and a mask but ... lol

I have seriously thought of putting on my BC before especially on the Indonesian flights.

I once saw a traveler board a plane departing Miami, for some island dive destination, wearing her BC, And yes, even to us divers, it did look rather odd.

a few years ago in queensland we had a german tourist that went thru checkin and in the waiting lounge he stripped off his shirt and pants to have a wetsuit underneath. took off his wetsuit and put his clothes back on

he got taken away for questioning for a few hours :11:
