I know this has come up before but I'm not happy with the quality of the mini SPG's currently on offer. Has anyone a link for a tactile pressure gauge I could source that will just give me basic information about how much air is in a cylinder when fitted to a first stage?

I had the same problem. I just started using thin SPGs on a 6" hose and tying the hose back on itself. Works and it's pretty reliable.
