Check out Edmonds Underwater Park. About 45 minutes away, but a pretty cool low key dive.

EUP is about 1.5 hours from Tacoma, depending on traffic. It is an amazing dive, but a long haul and the traffic can be a nightmere, especially on a Friday. However, there are tons of sites in the Tacoma area.

Les Davis is about the closest to the convention center (about 10 minutes). This is such a fun dive. Tons to see, easy access and restrooms right there.

However, there are some great little sites in and around the area too.

Redondo is about 30 minutes north. As Bob said, it is a great shore dive and lots to see.

Dickman Mill is on the waterfront too. Shallow dive and the pilling are pretty cool to poke around.

Fox Island West Wall is about 25 minutes across the bridge. Great site to see an octo.

Sunside is a flat, easy dive about 25 minutes away in Steilicoom.

Dane and the daily diving gang are checking out a new site this evening. I will post information once they dive it. It is also very close by.

If you are more experienced, there are a couple of deep dives I can recommend as well.

Some of the preimere sites, like Titlow, Sunrise and Day Island are close and fabulous, but not a great weekend to dive them due to the tides.

Don't forget about the Treasure Hunt on Saturday morning at Owen Beach. If you don't have a buddy, they will find one for you.

If you are sticking around until Monday, Rick said he could put together a charter then. PM me if you are interested.

Don't forget about the Treasure Hunt on Saturday morning at Owen Beach. If you don't have a buddy, they will find one for you.

I'm curious as to how you manage to dive with a buddy at the Treasure Hunt. Just thinking of that many divers getting in the water all at the same time ... especially given that they're going to be mucking about looking for golf balls on the bottom ... suggests that the vis goes to zero in a hurry.

How many buddy teams that go out together actually manage to end the dive together? And with that many divers in the water at the same time, once the water gets stirred up how can you tell who you're really diving with?

Not trying to be critical ... but I'm having a hard time envisioning the logistics of diving with a buddy under those conditions.

Probably what I'd do is just grab the ankle of the first diver who stepped on my head and "claim" them as a dive buddy ... assuming I could manage to not let go.

Have fun, Joe ... see you at the show on Saturday ...

One other thing, Any rinse station at the site?
Joe

Yup ... showers are on the south side of the building with the restrooms ... along the entrance to the fishing pier. The restrooms are closed ... they're being renovated ... but there are two honey buckets on the fishing pier (the showers are directly behind the smaller one).

Thanks for the guided tour today, oh yeah, you weren't there. But with that dive brief I thought I was on a guided tour. Your brief was spot on. This dive was like a tropical dive for me, water was warm and I was surrounded by nudies. What more could a guy ask for? Can't wait too meet you you Saturday.
Joe

I was with ya in spirit, Joe ... :D

Water was warm huh? Gee ... the other night it was 46 degrees.

Reminds me of the first time I ever dived there with Snowbear. When she came out of the water the first thing she said was "I love warm water diving ... no ice cream headache" ... :11:

Glad ya had a nice dive ... I'm fortunate to live about a 5 minute drive from that site ...
