Shelley is my favorite spot in Sydney. Saying that though I have never really seen much there other than the wobbegongs, sting rays and gropers. Its also a bit cold for my liking so I'd go with a 5 mm. I dove last weekend in my 3 mm in 24 C and I was FREEZING.

I dive with Pro Dive Manly in Sydney, they are about 5 mins drive from Shelley beach. Shelley gets down to about 12-15 m.

hint for your next attempt... get your state to start playing real mens football and you might make it thru one day! :lotsalove: :D ;)

I thought we did? Not only do we play AFL, didn't we just beat you at your own game?

Here's a hint: Melbourne Storm. :D

But seriously I would love to dive up there on the wrecks one day.

Cheers,
Michael

heheheehh - just remember, the only real game they play in heaven is rugby!!!

now wrecks.. i was talking to someone about this the other day, he was visiting from melbourne and we took him for a few dives

recreational wrecks are really bits of steel and not much else here

the good wrecks are all 45 to 60mtrs

fingers crossed for next year when they scuttle HMAS Adeliade up at terrigal!

Well I know it's an old thread, but I'm finally here. It's my 4th day in Sydney and all I can say is.....wow. What an amazingly beautiful country (and city!).

We got down to Manly yesterday, I THINK we were on Shelley. We did stop by and see Pro Dive Manly. Nice little shop with some nice people. We may do a shore dive with them later this week, depending on how funds are doing.

Oh, and I finally watched my first rugby game the other night, and I'm hooked! Australia whooped up on NZ pretty bad. Watched another one (professional?) at dinner last night, man what a blast.

Isn't it AMAZING??!!! Watch out you'll become addicted to it! I really loved it during my first visit 2 years ago. My second visit this year reconfirmed that! My goal is to find a way to end up there within 5 years -- either full time or for at least 6 months of the year!

Enjoy the rest of your time there! Hope you can get some dives in. Let us know how they were.

BTW have you tried Tim Tams? Probably a girl thing but they are addictive.

As Eau_Girl said ... enjoy your time here and Tim Tams are not just a girl thing.

But if you want to see a real football game try and catch a game of rugby union as opposed to rugby league (the game you saw Australia versus New Zealand was rugby league)

Have a great holiday

The only REAL football is soccer. :troll: :p

Also Tim Tams are delicious. Especially the ones with caramel in them.

Anyway, I was in Sydney on the weekend too to visit my sister at HMAS Watsons. It is very lovely around that area, hope to go for longer sometime this year so I can do some diving before she is shipped off to Perth. I noticed that the water temperature was still 19C! That would be nice too, I think my last dive was 14C in Melb :(. Maybe I will come up again in winter and dive at some of your suggestions almity! How cold does it get in Sydney?

Glad you're having a good time Scubastud~~~ If you go diving, post back a report :)

i havent dived the last 2 weekends as we've been very busy so maybe this weekend.
