There isn't one.

However, the biggest tip would be to just say thankyou, be courteous, show appreciation for what they do and to make their life easier by being self reliant on everything, they're not working for tips as part of their weekly pay packet.

We don't really have a tipping culture here, there is no expectation for you to tip.

If anything, see if you can buy them a beer after the dive, that's the Aussie tipping way  (although they will normally be quite busy after the dive cleaning and putting gear away)

The Steps is also a rocky entry/exit, so you need to watch the swell so not to get pummelled, especially on exit, It can be challenging some days with a camera.

The Apartments is a boat dive and further up north of Manly, it looks like Sydney Dive Charters have some boat trips there during July.
Hey cheers mate!
Went and hit the Steps with a private guide from Abyss in Ramsgate.

Great site, tons of wildlife. Conditions were a bit cold and cloudy, akin to a good day in Seattle, but it was a really badass couple of dives!

Had a newer guide but she did a great job and was really knowledgeable about the area and the marine life in it. we had an awesome time in the kelp forest with a Leafy Dragon, octopus, ray, or Port Jackson shark in every other kelp tuft. Finished the day out face to face with a Wobbegong too.

I’d unquestionably recommend abyss again. Good folks, good shop. Thanks for the heads up!

No problem

Abyss is the main shop I go through when I do boat dives and some travel, a really good shop and staff.

The Steps is a great site, just the steps suck... :)
Not really a kelp forest, just kelp,
and there actually Weedy Seadragons not Leafy, you need to go to South Australia for Leafy Seadragons.
There are also some Angler Fish and Pigmy Seahorses there as well.
Good that you enjoyed the site and had a great experience.

Was her name Jess?
If it was, she's only new to the team and a marine biologist, so will be a great addition.

Yep, she was a great guide and good people! I love when I get a guide who’s both a good diver and well learned. 🤙

We went looking for anglers and seahorses on the second dive but didnt find any. We did find an absolutely massive ray though. No joke it was at minimum 2m wide, more the size of a manta than a stingray. Finding the wobbegong on that dive also made up for the lack of seahorses.

If you did not see any sea horses or anglers, that means she does not really know the site. There are many of both there at the moment.

🤷‍♂️ the gigantic ray, wobbegong, octopodi, Port Jackson sharks, dragons and eels made up for it plus interest.

Seahorses and cool and all but I see them pretty regularly here too.

Different species.

For being as green and silty as the conditions were, I was pretty impressed with Botany Bay.

I’m looking forward to getting to dive it again! 🤙
