Fortunately, it's a small sword. A big one could really wreak havoc. I had that happen with a sailfish once. I was trying to release him in the water and he decided to come aboard. Once he stopped throwing stuff around, I managed to take the hook out and get a good release.

I love the way the fat guy took so long to get out of the chair that if it had been a bigger fish he would have skewered and barbecued before he managed to hand the rod off to the only other guy on the boat with any kind of plan.
