On friday afternoon im going to be swimming out to seal rock, me and a friend are going to make the swim from north cresent bay, i have bodyboard to use or i can take a raft, the surf report is forcasted at 4-6' but its most likely wrong. I know the beach well and go there usaly once a week to hang out and bodyboard. Im an experienced bodyboarder and have been in 10'+ sets at salt creek so 5-6' at cresent wont be too bad. Ive seen people use bodyboards to swim out to seal rock and stand on it. We doing this for my firends bday and were gonna hold a big sign up for her from the rock. i have a 2 man raft not really ment for the ocean but ill work for the short distance to the rock. I know ur not allowed to be on the rock and its against the law to mess with the seals. but we have to get on that rock and i know its possible, ive seen people on it. its about 100yds and not to far, we all attemped it once on spring break with out fins or anything just swimming and we freaked out and turned back halfway (rocks cut be up bad and i broke my toe) but now im comming preparied, so whats ur guys opinions?

Snorkel + snorkeling fins
body board + viper swim fins
raft + ores

Be aware that each of you could be fined $1,000 or more for disturbing the seals. It would have to be a really good friend to justify that kind of risk.

Perhaps you should consider doing it blindfolded and apply for the Darwin Awards.

what if we payed some local diver with a raft and motor to take us by the rock so we can hold up the sign? any regulars at cresent that want to help? i know ive seen adlest 1 diver out there with a motor powered raft

For your next stunt you should travel to San Fran a swim out to the Farallon Islands

Hmmmmmm, not a very smart cookie are you? "Hey guys, this Friday we'll be doing something we know is illegal. Why don't y'all come and watch??"

And watch out, ore is pretty heavy, might sink your raft
