Sweet bottom dive shop at Carambola Resort St. Croix? Any opinions?

as marine9 stated, you can't dive under the pier while any ship is in port... those homeland security guys might think you are trying to blow up the ship... it is an amazing dive there too - its my favorite night dive

as for the referral dives, at Cane Bay, we can do that as well... We are a PADI 5 star IDC Center and have 7 PADI instructors (6 full time, 1 part time) plus a number of DM's and AI's, so we can fit in any weird schedules, obvious time permitting... never a problem getting something scheduled, or worries about something not being done properly...

As far as Carambola goes, there are two Carambola locations. One is the golf course, located somewhat mid-island. The other is the resort we are talking about here. Cane Bay Dive Shop has 5 locations - Cane Bay, Frederiksted, Christiansted, Divi-Carina Bay Resort, and Carambola. Yes, we have a location at Carambola as well, we've been there for 3 years. If you truly wanted to do dives at Carambola, we can arrange that, through the diving truly is better just a mile down the road at Cane Bay. We could even do instruction at Carambola, if needed. We have a motto - "we dive when you want to dive." We hold true to this... If you have a diving request, just let us know, chances are we will make it happen...

I talked my wife into doing the beach excursion at Cane Bay instead of Carambola. We will plan on diving in the morning and leaving the kids on the boat until we return from the dive. I will call Cane Bay this week to set up if still possible. thanks for the help!!!

We stayed at Carambola, St. Croix in July 2010 for 3 nights and had a lot of aggravation with both Sweet Bottom and the resort management. Cane Bay Dive Shop (which is an excellent operation!) is not a diving provider for Carambola and Sweet Bottom and the management try their best to prevent the Cane Bay shop to serve the customers staying at the resort. They do not allow the Cane Bay enter the resort premises to pick up the customers; do not want to drive the gear up the hill to the gate where the Cane drivers were waiting for us. We had problems even entering the resort after diving with Cane. We had very hot discussions with the Sweet Bottom’s female owner and the resort management but nothing helped. We dove with the Cane only for a couple of days, but another couple booked 5 days of diving with the Cane shop. We can only imagine their trouble. Also the rooms are really shabby at the resort. We are not going to return to the resort that does not care about its clients.

It was great having you and Marina (sp?) dive with us, if only for a couple of days. I was your boat captain at least one of the days - when a fin got left in a gear bag, if you recall

Hopefully you will come back and stay a little longer next time!

If it makes you feel any better, the manager of the resort was fired / let go / replaced (not exactly sure which of the three, so I hate to speculate)

Here's hoping for better relations with Carambola
