So, my SOLA 1200 died last weekend. It thought it had detected a leak (which I don't agree with, but that's another story) and locked out big time. Since it's well out of warranty, I don't have big hopes of dezombiefying it and have already bought a replacement.

Now, the dead Dive 1200 has a perfectly functional battery and an equally perfectly functional LED array. Also, this winter, I went ahead and bought a 500 Photo. Which has a lower capacity battery than the 1200s. Which started me thinking: Is it possible to swap the dead 1200's battery with the battery in my 500 (which is far from being in as good shape as my now-dead 1200's battery)? Or is there some technical problems with that?

Due to Light n Motion’s recent demise , I’m bumping this thread back up, I predict diy battery swaps are about to be a whole lot more common.

Anybody have current pictures or info about swapping Sola batteries ?

They're easy to open and a simple 2 cell config, it would be easy enough for someone to make replacement packs for them.

Sounds like you have experience; share your pictures or info. The pcb mentioned in the above link seems particularly worthy of note.
