Hey guys so I'm about to trade my double faber lp 95's for a pair of faber hp120's. My question is will my oms manifold fit(have enough threads or be wide enough) to span the band separation of the hp120's? I'm pretty sure they are both the Sam neck size. I was wondering if anyone knows or has done this before.
Specs:
my tanks lp faber 95's
8" diameter
born 03

his tanks
faber fx series hp120's
7.25" diameter
born 05

any help would be huge!!!!!

You shouldn't have a problem. When buying a manifold, there is no need to specify what size tanks they are going on. The reason is that the individual valves essentially end up the same distance apart (about 8.5" center to center). There will be a larger gap between the 7.25" tanks and a smaller one (the tanks are almost kissing) between the 8" tanks. You just need to make sure the tank neck fits the valve. In this case, you are good to go!

Gotcha. Thanks so much for your help. That's a big relief. The only problem I thought was usually manifolds have the o rings in the cross bar. As for the oms manifold the cross bar has the female threads that the valves screw into. And the ends of the valves have the o rings which I'm assuming must sit tight up against the interior of the crossbar. And I don't see any adjustment to spread anywhere else. But hey hopefully I'm wrong and it works like you said.

I don't think TotDoc's answer is completely accurate. Putting doubles together is a matter of matching the manifold spread with the bands. Yes, you can use the same manifold from your 8" tanks on your 7.25" tanks, but you will need 7.25" bands with a wide spread. Many 7.25" bands have a narrower spread and match with smaller crossbars. You are clearly going to need different bands, so be careful.

iPhone. iTypo. iApologize.

My understanding is the moe modern style crossbar with the barrel orings on it that threads into the valves usually has a lot more adjustment available then the end sealing type. you might want to dryfit everything and make sure that the valve threads align with the tank necks before installing the valves but remember just dont force anything.

Warren you are absolutely right. But do the end sealing type like mine have any adjustment room? Seems no

Usually the end sealers were marketed for 7.25" or 8" tanks they had different crossbars If I remember correctly. You may be better off selling or trading that manifold and bands as a set and buying new.

DGX was one set I was looking at manifold and bands under 200 or look out for sales I ended up with dive rite manifolds/bands for the same price on sale. Either that or trade those 120s for 133s.

Warren, how would that work? Tank band spacing is the same 8.5" for all modern style bands. That said, there are 8.25" paced bands that the Sherwood manifolds work with, but if they are at 8.5" spacing per all modern bands, they'll be fine.

Thats why I recommended a dry fit to see if everything would line up. easy way assemble manifold hand tight drop tanks in bands snug up and see if the valves will align with the tanks if not measure and report back to us.

This...He's going to need new bands no matter what if he is making a switch from 7.25" to 8" tanks, so as long as he is buying a modern set of bands, he should have no problem. They are all designed to have 8.5" spacing between the valves now. Just to be sure, I just went and checked my LP95s and HP100s sitting in the garage - dead on 8.5 between the valves on both tanks. One has dive rite bands, the other has highland.

I guess the easy thing for him to do, then, is measure from center to center of the valves on his current setup. If it's 8.5" between, he is in good shape, because he won't have to go looking for any weird parts to make this all come together appropriately.
