I think whoever wrote the software for these things is a former Microsoft programmer ... they just need to be "rebooted" from time to time.

Vytec owners do you know if Suunto makes 2006 models for Vytec?

I really want to purchase a Vytec but would like a 2006 model if they have one.

Perhaps they have fix the bugs of the previous years.

Yes, it's called the Vytec DS. They've added an optional deep stop to the algorithm.

So it will automatically calculate the deep stops you need to make.

You know, if you're diving to, say 420-some feet.

I'm back at Sea Level.

Pulled the batt - had the batt out since Sunday. Just re-installed it, fired it up, and it looks like its working. I have it in the dunk tank right now. We'll see. But I'm pretty excited.

Re-set the date and time... and its all good so far.

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to be a cold shower but can you rely on it just now. :monster: :monster:
Obviously something has gone wrong, and low battery is a good posibility, however you are relying on it in a potentially life threatening situation.

Can you be sure it is telling you the truth?

Me I would have it serviced, if they could not give me a satisfactory answer as to what caused the problem then I would only use it as a backup until I had re-established some level of confidence in it.

No biggie.

I monitor my depth every few moments on the dashboard. If during the dive I'm at 60 feet one moment, and the next moment it tells me I'm at 422 feet - I'm still at 60 feet.

If I start it up and it tells me I'm at 422 feet... I simply won't take it on my dive and use something else.

I dive in gauge mode all the time except for multi-day trips - so no biggie.

My buddy is close by to verify my stops - but I wouldn't thumb a dive if it freaks out mid-dive. I'd have a mellow dive, use my buddy for a slow, safe ascent reference and just do the next dive with something else.

Computers aren't life support. They're dive tools.

But thanks.

Well thank goodness you bought it at a dive shop where you paid a little more but with that warranty and service your local dive shop gives you all will work out no matter if it's broken or not because, after all, you'd never shop on ebay.....

:D :D :D

Suunto warranty is lifetime one? As I recall, it is only two years......If I am wrong, correct me please....;)

Yes it is if you buy from a legimate Suunto dealer, not from some guy on ebay. You see my friend Ken here buys things on ebay because they are much much cheaper.

We disagree on what cheaper really means, he tells me I'm not able to fully understand the word cheap. I looked up cheap in the dictionary and found Mo2vations photograph along with a link to his ebay page, lol.
