I would like to buy a Suunto USB data cable for use with my older Vytec and Vyper.

Please PM me.

Thank you,
William

I believe the older models are serial, not USB, so you would have to get a USB to serial adapter and then the standard suuntu serial cable.

You're confused (maybe I did not make myself clear). When these Vytec and Vyper first came out, it was early/pre-USB and therefore had the "serial cable". But Suunto continued to produce the Vytec and Vyper when USB came out and therefore sold the USB cable for them.

I can buy brand new Suunto USB cables for these computers today. However, I don't want to pay that much so I am looking for someone who either has an extra, or one sitting around because his/her Suunto died, or just doesn't want it.

You don't have one sitting around that you want to part with, do you? :)

If you can't find a second-hand one, you could try one of these third-party cables. I bought mine from ebay (user 'itisnotmagic'); it's well built and does exactly what it should do.

I couldn't find "itisnotmagic" on ebay. Do you have a link to one of these guys? Unfortunately, the one you gave me is in "England".

But, actually, I'm not in a hurry. My Oceanic is my main computer and I have a USB cable for it that I download to my laptop. The Suunto Vytec, which I always wear (wrist) is my backup. Today, at noon, I have left knee arthroscopic surgery, so I will be out of diving for a couple of weeks anyways.

Thank you for your suggestion.

They have a postal service from England.

I got mine from Custom idea and they charged me #3.49 sterling (about $6) international shipping.

It works fine and is a more convenient shape than the suunto original.
