Thanks for the insight, does anyone know if any of the 'on-line' scuba shops (Leisure Pro/Scuba Toys) carry battery replacement kits for the Mosquito?

You can get the Suunto replacement kit for the Suunto Mosquito (Part # 5983 ) from Underseas Scuba Center, Inc.phone 630-833-83830 @ $13.00 each which inclodes new cover with new 0 ring and a flat brass object. It is round in the center with 3 triangle sections extending out from the center and 2 straight bars sticking out between the triangles.
I was told that it goes under the battery on top of the battery holder. There wasn't one of these in my Suunto Mosquito, as this is the first time I had changed the battery.

I have my LDS replace my Mosquito battery every year as part of my annual gear service. It costs about $10 for them to put the battery in and replace the o-ring and cover. Plus, if it fails due to flooding, the LDS will do right by me.

I got the Suunto kit for the Mosquito #5983 ($13 )

By the way, I just discovered tonight that the Suunto website has a little video showing how to replace the battery. You can find it here.
(I hope that link works. If not, you can go here to get to the video.)

Now, without trying to hijack the thread, would someone tell me in which orientation the computer download cable connects to the Mosquito? I bought my computer and cable used and didn't see any instruction. Thanks.

Edit: the first link doesn't work. Go to the second link and click on Videos on the left side of the window.

The most reliable way is to buy a battery replacement kit. But if you don't want to change the O-ring , suggest you clean the old o-ring , lubricate with silicon oil then seal it ; put the unit into the fresh water to have see if bubble or leakage . Mostly it's no problem.

I have a mosquito before & I think it's not convenient for me to buy a battery kit in my city. Finally I sold it out & buy a new computer Scubapro Aladin Tec 2G. It can be shut down if you are not dive. I think it's better than mosquito.
