Ok, so i want to support my local dive shop and buy this computer but they want $1,600. I can get it on line for $1,000. I told the dive shop this and they wouldnt budge on the price.

Shops around here are known for not helping divers with equipment that they have purchased online...... What would you guys do? I dont want bad blood with the shop owner but i also dont want to pay $600 more than i have to.

PS ive spent at least 10k in this shop over the past few years..

You gave the local shop a chance what more can you do? Just remember, online Suunto purchases are more than likely gray market which means no warranty.

You spent that much money at that LDS and they won't deal with you? Screw them then!!!

$1000 is pretty low. Are you sure it's not from a grey market source?

I'll PM you a contact.

Since your shop is a authorized dealer they made a commitment to aqualung not to sale below a certain price below MSRP. If they get caught they could lose their dealership. And we you send stuff back to aqualung for service and updates they ask for the receipt of purchase. Remember you are paying for quality and a lot of research went behind that computer.

Fnfalman before you say screw them you should now the fully story behind the store and aqualung. And if you take a cut in pay your company could low their price on their product and will not have to change such a high price.

Authorized dealers have certain low cutoff margins that they can't go below without factory authorization. HOWEVER, they can give discounts off MSRP prices. I have yet to pay MSRP prices for anything I've purchased. They may not be as much as online saving, but they definitely aren't MSRP and considerable enough so that I would go with the LDS instead of online.

So, yes, I say screw this LDS. If the OP had spent more than $10,000 worth of gear and equipment with them by now and they can't give out a decent deal on the Suunto dive computer? As far as I'm concerned, they didn't do him any favor. Quid pro quo is where it's it. I rub your back, you rub mine. Loyalty goes both ways.
